“ You could tell just walking in, this is THE place. The atmosphere, the service, everything was spot on. Then the food comes. Now, we travel a lot! And we've eaten a lot of pizza since it's one of our favorites. We ordered 4 pizzas and breadsticks and it came out quick! Everything is fresh from the sauce to the mozzarella. The crust is absolutely amazing! Hands down best in Carbondale. ”

The reviews for Rip's are quite high so I went in expecting it to be quite good and it delivered at and above expectations. The atmosphere is definitely laid back and causal, with an abundance of seating options. The staff are super polite, and willing to answer any questions you have and help get you what you need if they're missing anything. The crust was perfectly cooked, with the right amount of rigidity to each slice, and a slight char in spots to the initial exterior. The biggest surprise for me was the level of bell pepper present in the house made tomato sauce. I didn't expect it, and it threw me initially but grew on me with each bite. Definitely not a traditional sauce, but a fantastic deviation to the norm. ”

The menu is simple and doesn’t take your attention away from what this place is good at. Pizza and rotisserie chicken. The pizzas are made fresh and by hand with the highest of ingredients. They even grow their own basil! The chicken is perfectly cooked and seasoned. I’d recommend the spicy option! My only complaint is that at night the white overhead lights are a bit harsh on the eyes, but that’s a minor deduction from an overall amazing experience. ”
“ Rip's Brick Oven Pizzeria is my absolute favorite pizza in Carbondale, and a strong contender for the best in Southern Illinois. Their pizza is fantastic. You can tell the high quality of ingredients they use, from the toppings to the dough. They have a menu with a lot of variety, and I love their monthly specialty pizzas. The smoked duck fusion one was my favorite, although the chicken cordon bleu they always have is another top contender. It's made with the rotisserie chicken they make in house, and also sell. Regardless of what you choose, your taste buds will thank you. They are also extremely reasonably priced, and one of the more affordable options for pizza in the area. I have always left with leftovers, and they always reheat amazingly the next day. Not ever pizza stays as good on day two, but Rip's does. There is ample free parking in the back, and plenty of room to dine in inside the pizzeria. They also sell sodas and alcohol, so it's a great place to unwind. A very chill atmosphere, and the staff and owner have always been nothing but welcoming and kind. You cannot go wrong eating at Rip's! ”
